The growing and expanding cosmetic market in Thailand is increasing continuously. Cosmetic Science is interdisciplinary, which includes the science of basic science, cosmetic marketing, cosmetics manufacturing industry. Therefore, the preparation of cosmetic scientists who are proficient and always up to date in cosmetic technology improvements is necessary for cosmetic manufacture development. For this reason, the curriculum has applied learner knowledge creation theory, which is cognitive constructivism, as a cornerstone in curriculum design and development. It is believing that learning or creating knowledge is a process that takes place within the learner. By means of, the learner is the knowledge creator by integration of new paradigm from the experience, surrounding events, including new information technology with their own basic knowledge to create their own understanding or cognitive structure. This mechanism is used to support the foundation of knowledge creation more than the transferring of knowledge. Problem Based Learning is used as an advantageous tool for the teaching and learning process by focusing on the facing of the real situation, problems solving by students themselves. The lecturer will be a course supporter and facilitator.

The primary aim of this programme is to create graduates with knowledge, abilities and skills related to cosmetic science, as well as a clear and correct understanding of careers related to this discipline. The graduates are expected to be able to apply their intellectual and researching skills to the process of developing, producing and controlling the quality of different cosmetic products. Besides, the graduates are supposed to possess working knowledge of marketing and cosmetic-related laws, cosmetic counselling and problem-solving skills, the ability to pursue cosmetic-related careers in cultural diversity through mechanism that enhances professional academic experience, and cosmetic competences in order to energize cosmetic entrepreneurship sustainably.

The Research and Development in cosmetic science in the public and private institutions

  1. Cosmetic Business operators such as cosmetics manufacturing; natural products extraction, cosmetic products seller, cosmetic raw materials seller, including brand builder
  2. Working in cosmetic related fields such as quality control, production, marketing, law and labeling, and cosmetic consumer protection
  3. Working in a cosmetic academic field such as a cosmetic consultant or lecturer in the university
